Welcome !

Welcome to Troop 15. We are one of the oldest troops in San Francisco, having been founded in 1938 by Ed McFadden. Troop 15 is sponsored by St. Anne's Church. Boys of all religious backgrounds are welcome. Troop 15 seeks to develop the mental, physical, and leadership potential of its boys and young men focusing on the 4 aims of scouting: character development, citizenship training, personal fitness, and leadership development. The troop strives to train its boys so that they can fulfill leadership positions within the troop, with the ultimate goal of having a "boy run" troop, with adults serving as advisors and insuring that the national standards of safety and appropriate activity are maintained. We have 30 registered scouts and provide activities for all interests to include service projects, community support, leadership training, camping, hiking and backpacking. If you do not have an account and are a member of Troop 15, please e-mail the WebMaster for an account at WebMaster@sanfrancisco15.mytroop.us.

Troop 15 Update – Thursday , July 17th, 2026 Updates: Camp Royaneh Day 5

from the front lines:

As the days go by at Royaneh, things seem to get busier and the days seem  to go faster.I am going to start with last night's campfire. We assigned Tommy as the fire master and he also was working on a fire related rank advancement requirement. Jack had a requirement to instruct and helped guide Tommy in building and caring for the fire. Mr. Page (that's me also gave guidance to the duo). Tinder, 3 sizes of kindling, and fuel was gathered and organized. Tommy built a teepee fire making sure the tinder could light the smallest sticks and those in turn could catch the larger sticks. I asked Tommy to judge which direction the wind was coming from and he noticed the direction that the smoke from the chimney that Ian ha started for the Dutch oven was going which guided which side of the fire he lit it from. Then, Tommy struck a single match and carefully placed it in the spot he had prepared for the lighting and the fire was on its way! That was the only match he needed. Next up we had several skits, a number of sing alongs with Luke from troop 642 who had brought his guitar and Mr Hourihan captivated us all with another brilliant telling of a story. After the story, the troop made smores and dished out the peach cobbler. Unfortunately for me, I forgot to bring my mess kit.....but wait, turns out I was the lucky one, turns out someone mistook salt for sugar. Ian took the first bite and was like "this is really salty!" Live and learn, right? I don't think any of these scouts will make that mistake again, but it makes a good story.
